REVIEW: Anti-Flag – American Fall

Anti-Flag – American Fall

By Spriha

“I came. I saw. I believed.” is not only a title of a song released off the new Anti-Flag album American Fall  but it’s the description of how you feel after seeing this band live. When the world feels like its going to shit, Anti-Flag always comes and saves the day with their political punk messages and this album does just that.

I would be lying if i said  I have not listened to this album multiple times since it came out. American Fall starts with the very catchy “American Attraction”, the first music video for the album, and ends with “Casualty”. The vocals and instrumentals of Justin Sane, Chris Head, Chris #2 and drumming of Pat Thetic create the perfect ska sound to this new Anti-Flag record (which was most definitely induced by the amounts of Rancid Sane was listening to).Throughout the 11 tracks, the band covers an array of topics. From the politics of distraction, cycle of poverty, the problems minorities face, to the issues of war; this album is a perfect way to describe the time we are living in and all of its issues.

The booklet provides the following quote:

“The American Fall is our rejection of this harmful distraction. At this crucial moment in history, we must focus on pushing past the status quo to create a better and more just world. We reject the proliferation of exploitation, racism, bigotry, and socioeconomic injustice that dominate the policies of Donald Trump, just as we renounce the neoliberal status quo that came before him.”
