A Sound of Thunder will rock you to your core with Second Lives, a five-song concept EP based on Valiant Comics Dr. Mirage available exclusively through Kickstarter as a companion to their brand new LP It Was Metal. The EP cover art is being done by Dr. Mirage series artist Roberto de la Torre. A Sound of Thunder is a Washington, DC-area metal band that has been 100% crowdfunded for more than six years. In that time they’ve had great success by avoiding the endless cycle that bands can go through when they are contracted through a label. With their Kickstarters every cent has gone into making new albums and merchandise that their fans want. Their fans, otherwise known as “The Legion of Thunder,” have surpassed their original goal by $10,000 at the time of this article.
A Sound Of Thunder 2013
Second Lives isn’t A Sound of Thunder’s first rodeo; the band teamed up with Valiant back in 2015 when they did a concept LP based on the Shadowman comic series titled Tales from the Deadside. This went on to be the highest grossing metal Kickstarter of all time, even charting multiple times on various billboard charts. They have great stretch bonuses on this new project too including a comic book and, my favorite, the triple gatefold double vinyl with art by Dusan Markovic.
