Doppelganger #1 Review

By William Pace

Dennis Zimmann, a timid computer engineer, gets his life all twisted after a car crash leaves him with a concussion and a demon…himself. Believing that he’s hallucinating as a result of his injury, Dennis’ grip on reality starts to unravel when an evil version of himself begins to torture him. What would you do if you were confronted by yourself? How on earth would that happen? Your worst nightmare facing yourself, your evil self.

Jordan Hart writes this psychological sci-fi thriller right out of The Twilight Zone; I kept looking for the signpost up ahead and Rod Serling. The story, with art by Emmanuel Xerx Javier, grabbed me from the first page! They knocked this one out of the park. This is how you do a first issue and it couldn’t have had a stronger start.

Alterna Comics is killing it with their newsprint line. It has great writers and artists, and all for $1.50! You can’t beat it! Doppelganger is bound to be a classic tale, a book that you can read time and time again. You need this book–no two ways about it!

I give this book 10/10. It fired on all cylinders! Doppelganger is a 4-issue mini series. Issue 1 hits stands on 11/29/2017.
